Thank you for caring about animals (and people, too). As an advocate, you matter and what you do matters. Every positive impact you make helps the world be a better place for us all.

In this interactive Be A Hero for Animals ebook and video series, you will discover easy, no-cost or inexpensive ways to help animals in need. Although the focus of this ebook is on companion animals in shelters and rescues, the principles apply to helping people and other animals, as well. Thank you for being a hero.

This video shows you step by step how to click to give on the Greater Good Site and where to find petitions to sign.  It also shows you where to find the daily and cumulative results from visitor clicks, such as how much food was donated or acres of rainforest protected. You’ll be amazed at the benefits add up. It almost seems too good to be true that doing something so quick and simple can make such an impact. It’s a wonderful thing.

Who says being a hero has to be all seriousness? Not true! Doing good nourishes your soul and can be fun. The Freekibble site will appeal to the kid in you and to your pet-loving children as well. Speaking of kids, freekibble.com was developed by an 11-year-old girl wanting to help feed dogs and cats in shelters. It has been a huge success.

Imagine how bored and scared you’d feel sitting in a small cage in a strange place day after day, week after week. That’s what life is like for many of our innocent shelter pets.

You can make them feel happier and more secure with these DIY project ideas ranging from quick and easy to more complex and time-consuming. DIY projects are a great way to enjoy quality time with your children and get the whole family involved in doing something good.

Tip: 1-Choose a project or two (or more!) that appeals to you. Bottle caps and fluffy fillings can be a choking hazard. Fill items with paper or fabric instead.

Want to curb cruelty toward parent animals and stop the deaths of millions of dogs and cats every year? Spay and neuter your pets. Adopt companion animals from shelters and rescues. Don’t buy them at pet stores that sell puppy farm puppies (99% of them are). Encourage your friends and family to do the same.

When food and animals come up in the same conversation, there is bound to be controversy. Extremes in position range from being a vegan who eats and uses no animal products whatsoever to those who believe animals exist only for human use and we can use and abuse them however we will.

Only you can decide where to opt-in on that continuum. Only when you see and know the truth can you make an informed decision. In this case, seeing is worth more than words. As a hero for animals, let compassion and “what if it were me?” be your guide.

Despite our best intentions, it is easy to get distracted and forget to take action. That’s why signing up for daily reminders and staying inspired is so important.

For inspiration, I encourage you to continue looking at posts from advocacy groups and to read about changemakers who have come before us and are on the front lines now.

I encourage you to read those articles and share them. Please post supportive comments on the articles. Rescuers and advocates need encouragement and inspiration, too. Theirs is often a never-ending, difficult vocation. Kind, supportive words help keep them going.
